The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has announced on the 13 February 2017 that the price of the stent has been fixed at Rupees seven thousand five hundred for bare metal stent and twenty nine thousand six hundred (plus applicable taxes) for drug coated stent. The exercise for capping stent prices is an arduous one lasting nearly two years. The government I feel has given enough opportunities for the industry to reform itself. But unfortunately it did not happen. The malaise in the system is more than I perceived.
